The Montgomery County Council’s Government Operations (GO) and Public Safety (PS) committees held a joint meeting Thursday to review legislation that would establish enhanced background verification for hiring police officers who previously served in law enforcement roles in Department of Homeland Security. Parents are encouraged to sign up early, as spots fill up rapidly each season.

Montgomery County officials have officially launched the 2026 Resident Survey, inviting community members across all districts to share feedback on county services, public safety, transit, and housing affordability. The feedback gathered from this survey will directly inform funding allocations and operational priorities for the upcoming budget cycle.

Montgomery County communities were named among 30 jurisdictions across the state selected to receive funding from Maryland's landmark ENOUGH Initiative aimed at reducing child poverty.
