As the college admissions and scholarship season officially gets underway, Montgomery County Public Schools, in partnership with higher education institutions and regional career organizations, announced a series of upcoming in-person fairs and financial planning workshops for local high school students and their families.

On Friday, Oct. 9, MCPS is teaming up with Career Council, Inc. and College Fairs USA to present an in-person college fair geared toward high school juniors and seniors.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the activity center at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg. Attending students will participate during the regular school day and will receive a registration link to build an online student profile prior to the event. For further details, students are advised to check in directly with their school counselors.

**College application season**

To help families navigate the complex college planning landscape, MCPS College and Career Navigators are offering support on application process, essay writing, Common App completion, and financial aid strategies. High schools throughout the district can schedule virtual and in-person guidance sessions, and a complete schedule of local high school workshops is available via the district's online workshop directory.

In addition to district-level support, Montgomery College is hosting dedicated events aimed at helping families secure funding for post-secondary education.

The college will host a Virtual Financial Aid Night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22\.

During the online session, students and parents can connect directly with financial aid experts to explore available aid options, learn about the overall application process, and get their questions answered. Advanced registration is required to attend.

Later in the fall, Montgomery College will hold "FAFSA Day: Fund Your Future" from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the East County Education Center, located at 2221 Broadbirch Drive in Silver Spring.

The event will offer personalized, one-on-one assistance with completing the FAFSA and MHEC ONE-APP.

Attendees will also have access to financial literacy presentations, information on scholarships and federal loans, credit improvement resources, and a community resource fair.
